The other day we had a "stage craft" 'Clinic' with Tim and Garry from INXS. They played our performances and then critiqued them.  I must say I was pretty pleased with what I did.  I thought I could've sung better, but was happy with the way I performed. I was concerned at how I was going to look my "Mayan" performance of "Smells Like Teen Spirit" was so unfocused and scattered, while these were much more centered.  Garry said that he thought I was ' too theatre" still.  I think he means my performance looked too rehearsed, too calculated.  In actual fact, I was riding by the seat of my pants- I couldn’t even remember what I did with  " Walk This Way" I was too busy trying to remember the lyrics let alone any stage moves.  However, I take his point.  I need to be more spontaneous with my performances. Anyways, I know the task set for me…  Show some spontaneity and danger.  Hopefully I can shake off that "too theatre" tag next time. 

The neat thing I did was to choose the song "LOLA." It wasn’t even my top 5 choices, but if it meant that next week I will be able to choose ANY song, then I am happy for the trade.  "LOLA" is a classic, but I've worked out a new arrangement with the House band. "LOLA" also means 'Grandmother' in Tagalog, so this song is dedicated to my 'Gigi,' who was my 'LOLA' and to celebrate my Filipino connection. I just need to make it work, show spontaneity and survive this coming week's elimination show.
